Building A Storage Shed On A Slope

building a storage shed on a slope

Last week i had the opportunity to help a friend build the foundation for a new shed that will be delivered in a couple of weeks. his back yard has a bit of a slope, and it would take too much concrete to pour a slab (read how to pour a concrete shed foundation here). for that reason, we decided that building a post and beam foundation would be the best way to go.. A beginners guide to shed building: shed building plans the slope of the roof can be as steep or gentle as you wish but note that a steeper slope is harder to work on but it will increase the. Level the ground (if necessary) and install deck piers along a grid to support the shed. the piers will allow you to string support beams beneath the floor of the shed. in the example design, the piers are spaced 6 feet (1.8 m) apart in one direction and 4 feet (1.2 m) apart in the other for a total grid area of 12 x 8 feet..

From start to finish, it may seem a little intimidating, but just take it one step at a time. the nice thing about building a shed is that it starts off easy (layout the foundation, building the floor, etc.), and by the time you get to some of the more daunting tasks (like the roof), you would have gained a lot of confidence/experience working your way to that point.. It depends on the angle of the slope you are building into as well. once you have cleared the site, you would need to remove any danger of the earth slipping back on to the shed, and causing damage..
